The Firm

Quiet counsel for those with much to protect.

Sterling & Marsh was founded on Bedford Row in 1974 by Edmund Sterling and Charlotte Marsh, on a simple premise: that the affairs of the few deserve the attention of the firm's principals, not its juniors.

We remain deliberately small. Every engagement is led by a partner, every figure is checked twice, and every client knows the name of the person who answers the telephone. Our work spans personal tax planning, statutory audit, corporate advisory, and the delicate matter of passing wealth between generations.

How We Work

A measured engagement, from first call to fee.

01

Introduction

A confidential conversation with a partner — without charge — to understand your circumstances and whether we are the right firm for you.

02

Review

We examine the full picture: filings, structures, and exposures. You receive a written summary and a fixed fee quotation before any work begins.

03

Counsel

Your dedicated partner delivers clear, defensible recommendations — and implements them, liaising with HMRC, solicitors, and bankers as required.

04

Stewardship

An annual review keeps your affairs current as the law and your life evolve. We anticipate, so you are never caught unprepared.

Sector Expertise

Fluent in the worlds our clients inhabit.

Landed Estates

Agricultural relief, heritage assets, and the tax of stewarding property held for generations.

Professional Services

Partnerships, LLPs and practices — profit allocation, partner tax, and succession.

Founders & Entrepreneurs

Business Asset Disposal Relief, EIS planning, and a clean path to a well-timed exit.

International Families

Residence, domicile, and cross-border reporting for the globally mobile household.

Trusts & Charities

Trustee reporting, charity audit, and the governance the Commission expects.

Owner-Managed Business

The complete back office — audit, advisory, and remuneration — for established companies.

Sterling & Marsh untangled three generations of family holdings with a calm that I can only describe as old-fashioned. They saved us a great deal — and worried us not once.
